Pacific Rim Whale Festival Video Contest

The Pacific Rim Whale Festival is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and wants you to create a video using whales as your inspiration. You can sing, perform, act, animate, or digitally assemble images. Videos should be 5 minutes long or less.

This contest is open to legal residents of Canada with the winning video receiving a $500 prize. Not only that but the winning video will be showcased throughout the nine days of the Pacific Rim Whale Festival at multiple events and on our website and YouTube channel throughout 2011.

We are looking for video on the subject of whales. Stories that focus on species of whales that occur near the West Coast of Vancouver Island are preferred (e.g., grey whale, orca, minke whale, blue whale, North Pacific Right whale, sei whale, etc. Please check out our website for further rules and guidelines.

March 19th to 27th, 2011 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Festival which started as a celebration of the annual migration of the grey whales from Baja Peninsula to Alaska’s Bering Strait. Over the years the festival has grown, celebrating not just whales but also the rich heritage and unique coastal environment found only on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
